ANXIETY

Anxiety is both a mental and physical state of negative expectation. Occasional bouts of anxiety are natural and can even be productive. But persistent, pervasive, or outsized anxiety can disrupt daily life, whether at school, work, or with friends—the mark of an anxiety disorder. Nearly one-third of adults in the U.S. will grapple with out-of-control anxiety at some point in their life. (psychologytoday.com)

My goal in treating anxiety is not just to restore calm but to endow my clients with the ability to regain control over themselves whenever worry threatens to overtake them. My clients gain enduring portable skills that can serve them on the darkest night, the highest cliff, or in front of the largest audience.

By developing a strong therapeutic alliance, I provide my clients with a powerful signal of safety directly and deeply countermanding the (mistaken) alarms of threat that define the disorder of anxiety.
