I became a therapist because I believe people are capable of profound change.

And that the right support — in the right relationship — can unlock what hasn't been possible before. Whatever brings you in, whether it's years of struggle or something more recent, I'm interested in understanding it at the root. Not managing symptoms at the surface, but working toward something that actually shifts.

My approach combines the science of trauma neuroscience with deep clinical intuition. I draw on EMDR, Internal Family Systems, and Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy — not as separate protocols, but woven together around what each client actually needs. Warmth with directness. Depth without pressure.

I have extensive experience working with the Orthodox Jewish community and the Five Towns, where complex trauma, identity, religious life, and mental health intersect in ways that require both cultural fluency and deep clinical skill. I understand the community, and I know how to navigate its particular sensitivities with both honesty and respect.

I practice in Woodmere, NY — where I am based most of the week — and Manhattan (Midtown), where I see clients one day a week. Remote sessions are available throughout New York State.

How I work

🎯

Depth Over Surface

I'm not interested in helping you cope with a symptom indefinitely. I want to understand — and help you heal — whatever is generating the symptom. This takes more time upfront but creates far more lasting change than managing symptoms week after week.

🧩

Integrative, Not Dogmatic

I draw from EMDR, IFS, KAP, psychodynamic theory, and somatic work — using what each client needs rather than applying the same protocol to everyone. Your treatment plan is built around you, not a diagnosis.

🤝

Direct & Collaborative

I don't just listen and reflect. I share observations, challenge patterns respectfully, and offer genuine feedback. Clients describe me as warm but real — someone who will tell them what they need to hear, not just what they want to hear.

🌿

Culturally Attuned

I have deep familiarity with the Orthodox Jewish and Five Towns community, and extensive experience working with diverse New York populations. You don't have to explain the context of your life to me.

Education and advanced training

Education and advanced training

Formal training is the foundation — but it's the integration of modalities in clinical practice that creates real skill.

FAQ about working with Michael

What's your therapeutic style?

Warm, direct, and depth-oriented. I don't waste your time in sessions going in circles. I engage actively — sharing observations, asking pointed questions, and offering genuine feedback when I think it would help. Clients often say sessions feel substantive and efficient, even when the work is heavy.

Do you work with people who've had bad therapy experiences before?

Yes — this is actually quite common. Many clients come to me after years of therapy that felt stuck, surface-level, or even harmful. My approach is different in that it works at the neurological and parts level, not just the verbal narrative level. We go at your pace and build safety before anything else.

What's your experience with the Orthodox Jewish community?

Extensive. I've worked with rabbis, community leaders, observant families, and individuals navigating everything from mental health stigma to religious trauma to the intersection of halacha and psychological wellbeing. I approach this work with both genuine cultural respect and clinical honesty.

Do you offer sliding scale fees?

I maintain a limited number of reduced-fee spots for clients with demonstrated financial need. Standard sessions are $250. This is discussed during the free consultation on a case-by-case basis.

What's the difference between your Woodmere and Manhattan offices?

Woodmere is my primary office — I'm there most of the week and it's the best place for ongoing clients. The Manhattan (Midtown) office is available one day a week. Both offices offer the full range of services including KAP dosing sessions. Remote sessions are available throughout New York State.
